Paint and political commentary

Over the weekend the hubby and I headed to a nearby big box hardware store to pick up things for our on-going redecoration project. I picked out a blueish-gray paint(more on that later this week) and headed to the paint counter. I thought it was going be a simple transaction. Apparently not:

Paint guy: I'm almost done with your paint.
Me: Thanks.
Paint guy: Let me ask you a question. What country are you from?
Me: Uh ...Pakistan.
Paint guy: That's surprising for two reasons. First, Pakistan is poor. I mean it's a third world country. You're clearly not.
Me: ....
Paint guy: Second, you look like a New York girl. Sunglasses on your head and all. You look like you have it together.
Me: .....
Paint guy: You know, Pakistan is an unstable place. You don't know if they are going right or left.
Me: Um... thanks for the paint.

Yea... I wish I was making that up.
