I grew up in south Florida, where there are two seasons: hot and hotter. When I moved to upstate NY, I was thrilled to discover there are indeed four seasons. Each season brings fun events and yummy foods to the region. Autumn is my favorite season. The crisp fall air and the beautiful colored leaves. The yummy fruits and vegetables, which can be turned into a host of delicious dishes. As fall comes to a close, try these yummy dishes from around the web. I would have posted pictures, but we finished them before I got the chance! That should be indication of how fantastic they all are.
Kadu Bouranee - This traditional Afghan is typically made with pumpkin. I substituted in butternut squash and reduced the sugar to 2 tablespoons with yummy results. This was fantastic with white rice.
Pumpkin Snickerdoodles - These cakey cookies are filled with pumpkin and cinnamon galore. I wish I hadn't halved the recipe, they were delicious!!
Caramel Apple Pie - My go-to recipe for apple pie. It's time consuming, but worth it. I can't speak for the crust, as I'm too lazy to make my own crust. I know, I'm ashamed.
Spiced Pumpkin Cupcakes - The cake and frosting are perfectly balanced in this fall treat. The frosting is a bit soft for a fancy decorating tip, but with frosting this tasty who cares if it's pretty.
