Redecorating trials and tribulations, Part 1

Our current bedroom
After months of harassing discussing it with my hubby, he finally gave in agreed to redecorate our bedroom. Our room is filled with furniture I've owned since I was nineteen, which was awhile ago. So, I was definitely ready for a change.

We visited several furniture stores and couldn't find anything we loved. Then we visited the unfinished wood section of our local store and found this lovely highboy dresser and matching nightstands. These pieces are certainly nicer than the old dressers and folding TV tray table we were currently using. The only problem? They require work and lots of it. Each piece needs to be sanded, stained, sanded, and poly-urethaned.

We agreed that the room could also use a coat of paint and new curtains. More work... fantastic. With a 1-year-old underfoot, completing any task takes much longer, but the work is surprisingly fun!

A work in progress
in the garage
This week I'm sanding and staining furniture in the garage. I love the way the stained furniture looks. I'll post updates over the next few weeks. Have you completed any home redecoration recently?

  1. With a one year old? You guys are brave! I can't wait to see how the furniture turns out :)

PS: You had great taste in furniture as a nineteen year old. You don't even want to see stuff I picked out two years ago, much less than ten years ago.
