Baby shopping: 1-3 months

Several of my friends have recently had babies and asked what products I found useful. I thought I would do a product round-up for each age range: 1-3 months, 4-8 months, 8-12 months. Also check out my post on the first month of babyhood. These are the items I found helpful, but everyone's baby and lifestyle is different.

Newborn Rania in the Moby Carrier.
Baby carrier - There are several choices in carriers. After trying several, we found we preferred the Baby Bjorn for ease of use. It's great for outings and around the house.

If you are nursing:

Organic nursing pads - These soft cotton pads catch leaks. They do slide around a bit, so these aren't great for nighttime.

Nursing tanks - These are great for around the house or under a cardigan for outings. They are soft and super easy to use. They hold up great in the washing machine.

Breast Pump - I loved the compact size and portability of the Medela Swing pump. It can be used with the A/C adapter or with batteries. This is great for when you first start nursing to relieve engorgement. Pump before bed to avoid becoming engorged over the night.

If you are bottle feeding:

Bottle brush - I tried several brushes and the Avent brush cleans the body of the bottle as well as the nipple easily.

Bottles - these Tommee Tippee bottles don't leak and are easy to clean. Yay!

Formula dispenser - these are great for pre-measuring formula and tossing it into the diaper bag. No expensive small formula packets to buy.

Is there anything that I missed or that you disagree with? Leave a comment below. I love to hear from you!
