Memorial Day Mayhem

Our Memorial Day plans seemed simple enough; speed boating and a BBQ with friends on Lake George. Surprisingly, the traffic was light and we arrived at Snug Harbor around lunch time. We loaded up the boat and left the marina. 100 feet away from the marina, the boat sputtered to a stop. The boys tinkered with the controls for a few minutes and announced the boat was dead. We all groaned and the hubby honked the very loud horn. One of the employees finally noticed us and jumped in a boat. He rushed to our side and towed us back to the marina.

After loading all our stuff onto another BIGGER(yay!) boat, we headed out AGAIN. The hubby drove quickly to make up for lost time. A couple miles out, the boat died AGAIN. We all groaned and called the marina. Our knight in a shiny boat showed up a short while later. He tinkered with the boat for a few minutes and announced we had blown a fuse. He quickly changed it, apologized profusely and sent us on our way.

A VERY excited Rania.
We FINALLY arrived at our picnic spot, only to find someone had stolen it. A shirtless potbellied man wandered up to the moored boat. We shouted to him that this was our spot, he apologized profusely and moved his boat, while we circled the island. After unloading our million pounds of gear, the girls grilled the burgers while the boys went to test out their new Walmart fishing poles. They wandered back an hour later, looking downcast. They reported that shockingly their rods didn't work. But then, what can you expect for $20 from Walmart? We tried to forget our misfortunes and enjoyed a yummy picnic. Then, we repacked our gear and headed back to the marina.

The boys took turns driving and even let me drive! I went a heart racing 7 mph. After arriving at the marina,  the grumpy hubby had a "talk" with the manager. He offered us free gas for our "inconvenience".

Despite everything, we all agreed that it was an amazing afternoon. Even baby was all smiles. But, that may have been because she no longer had to wear the HUGE baby life jacket
