Happy New Year!

I can hardly believe that 2011 is over. Where did the days go? This year has brought many amazing changes. My little baby turned one, she talked, she crawled. She is becoming her own tiny person. She has developed her own likes (cheese, Sesame Street, fruit) and dislikes (almost all vegetables, socks). Her personality shines through more and more each day.

We took Rania on her first trip to Pakistan in April. I watched as she bonded with her grandparents and cousins.  Returning home after our 3 week long trip was difficult. Rania missed the attention and love of her extended family, as did we. Then, I developed Hepatitis A. What followed was the worst month ever, filled with needles and trips to the hospital.  Thankfully, my loving family nursed me back to health in the days that followed.

Over the past few months, we have met several new friends; Couples, with small children of their own. We've spent countless hours discussing baby development and the silly antics of toddlers. I've been supported and comforted by the sage advice of other mothers.

As I look back on the past year, I realize how lucky I am to have such amazing friends and family. I hope that 2012 bring us all good health and the companionship of family and friends.
