The Walmart Ladies

I love when people smile and coo over Rania. She usually obliges them with a "gooo" or a smile. But, sometimes people's comments can be a little ... um.... strange.

A few weeks ago I made a trip to my local Walmart to pick up a few things. Rania napped in her stroller while I picked up some yarn and a new knitting loom. When I went to check out, the cashier leaned over the counter and commented on how cute Rania was. I smiled at her and said "Thank you", as I walked away. Two women sat near the exit. The toothless older woman smiled at me and said "Cute baby. My daughter wants her. She might steal her. You better watch out." She laughed loudly, as the woman sitting next her looked away embarrassed. I smiled at them nervously and left the store quickly.

Beware of the creepy Walmart ladies.

  1. One of the guys I work with used a picture of his triplets as his IM avatar, and the one on the left was SOOO CUTE I COULD JUST EAT HIM UP. I really wanted to tell him, if the one on the left ever goes missing, you might want to check to see if I have him... but then I thought about how that would sound and decided it was only funny to me and would be creepy to anyone else, especially the parent.

    It seems I was correct.

In case I need to clarify, I would never steal a baby, no matter how ridiculously adorable it is. :)

  2. lol. Yes, it is creepy and every parents worst nightmare! However, I have told people that their babies are so cute that I could "eat them up". In hindsight, such cannibalistic tendencies are probably frowned upon by the parents as well.
